Client itinerary: Rome, Florence, and the Lake District

lake district italy

A client contacted me with very specific requests about what to see during a 2 week trip to Italy. They needed to visit Rome, Florence, and the Lake Region, and wanted a lot of free time for exploring on their own, with some special tours and activities mixed in. Here’s the itinerary I proposed:

• 13 nights’ hotel with breakfast (triple occupancy rooms),
• first class train travel between all cities,
• Rome pasta making class & dinner,
• pizza and gelato making in Florence,
• full day tour to San Gimignano, Siena, and Chianti region,
• private car transfers from Rome airport and to Milan airport,
• and private car transfers from railway stations where appropriate/noted. Budget is adjustable based on preference and removal/addition of items.

Day 1: Arrival in Rome!

Arrive in the beautiful city of Roma! Private transfer from airport to your hotel.

Hotel: 4-star hotel near the Spanish Steps

The afternoon can be spent resting and exploring the local area, including the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain.

Day 2: Rome continued.
(NOTE: If a Wednesday, consider a public Papal Audience.)

Suggested activity: Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and St Peter’s Basilica. Tickets and/or private/semi-private tours can be arranged.

Consider the following included activity: Afternoon cooking class – 3 different types of pasta.

Day 3: Rome

Continue with your exploring of Rome “on your own”, consider having dinner in Trastevere, touring the Jewish Ghetto, or taking the train to nearby Tivoli and discover the beautiful Renaissance-style Villa D’Este manor.

Day 4: Rome
One last day in Rome as The Eternal City has enough sites and sounds to fill up a lifetime! No planned activities, so that you can evaluate what you “didn’t do yet” and use Day 4 to accomplish it!

Day 5: Florence
Depart for your hotel in Florence by way of first class train travel. (Private transfer from hotel to train station is available if desired.) Sample schedule:
