Hotel Review: JW Marriott in Quito, Ecuador
I first stayed here in 2013 and have had the opportunity to return a few times to the delightful JW Marriott in Quito, Ecuador. My original 5-star ranking on TripAdvisor remains UNCHANGED and I continue to look forward to each stay at this hotel!
Original review below.
I stayed at JW Marriott in Quito after 2 weeks of doing business around Latin America in countries with various degrees of comfort, it was a lovely way to end the trip. Had an executive level room which was marvelous (access to the lounge with free breakfast and hors d’oeuvres — breakfast is more than adequate even though they call it “continental” but you still have eggs, bacon, etc.)
I travel extensively and stay in many 5* hotels all over the world . I often am picky and leave adequate/honest reviews on TripAdvisor. I have NEVER stayed in a hotel that I have NOTHING to complain about. Until now — because the JW Marriott was marvelous. The attention to detail by the staff was impeccable.
For example, my friend was very ill and staff members telephoned a pharmacy for her and arranged for delivery of some medicine right to her room.
Every staff member I saw said “hello” to me and asked me how my stay was going.
The food was marvelous – we ate dinner in the restaurants every night because we enjoyed it so much we did not need to go out into the city. (Our last stay in Quito at a different hotel by a different brand and their hotel restaurant was not so good; we ate in the city restaurants all the time.) The Argentinian steakhouse and the Mexican restaurant were delicious. The breakfast in the executive lounge and the hors d’oeuvres were excellent. The pool is gorgeous (and heated!), but even better than the physical comforts was the dignified and courteous treatment by your staff.
Please accept my congratulations. You have made me a loyal guest for life. I have already told all my friends who travel that they should only choose the JW Marriott in Quito for their hotel.
Hotel is close to many well-known restaurants as well as the artisinal market. Taxis are easy to get right at the front door. Like all hotels in Quito, be aware that the airport is now located very far outside the city, so in general travellers are going to have to adapt their arrival/departure plans in Quito. It took me about an hour at 8:30pm to get to the airport. This has nothing to do with the hotel, just noting it for those of you doing research.
